Stainless Steel Bearings: Features, Models, Classification & Applications

Stainless steel bearings are corrosion-resistant precision rolling bearings specially designed for harsh, humid, and sanitary working environments. Compared with ordinary carbon steel bearings, they feature excellent rust-proof, acid and alkali resistance, clean hygiene and optional non-magnetic performance. With complete material grades and full standard models, these bearings are widely used in food, medical, marine and semiconductor industries for medium and low-speed precision equipment.

1. Core Bearing Features

Superior Corrosion Resistance: The dense passive film on the stainless steel surface effectively resists moisture, salt spray, weak acid and weak alkali erosion, maintaining stable operation in rust-prone and coastal humid environments.

Non-Magnetic & Clean Performance: 304/316 stainless steel versions deliver non-magnetic or weak-magnetic properties, suitable for precision equipment requiring non-magnetic conditions. The smooth surface is easy to clean and meets strict food-grade and medical hygiene standards.

Applicable Working Conditions: Ideal for medium and low-speed operation scenarios. These bearings are cost-effective for corrosion-prone environments where ordinary steel bearings are prone to rust and failure.

Performance Limitations: Lower hardness than standard bearing steel, with wear resistance and load capacity 10%-30% lower than ordinary steel bearings of the same size. The product cost is 2-5 times higher than conventional bearings.

2. Material Classification

440C Martensitic Stainless Steel: High hardness and good wear resistance, the most widely used general-purpose stainless steel bearing material.

304 Austenitic Stainless Steel: Excellent corrosion resistance and non-magnetic performance, suitable for daily sanitary and humid environments.

316 Austenitic Stainless Steel: Superior acid and alkali resistance, specially used for chemical and marine salt spray environments.

316L Low-Carbon Stainless Steel: Anti-oxidation and anti-corrosion upgraded version, effectively preventing intergranular corrosion for high-standard sanitary equipment.
